From The Alumni

"Beyond all the skills and knowledge I've gained through Gunn Speech and Debate, what I appreciate most is the community this club has provided me with. Every week, I found myself around like-minded people who are encouraging, caring, and a whole lot of fun to be around."
– Thomas Li (Class of 2021)

"GunnSD was the highlight of my high school experience, and doing debate has fundamentally changed the way I view the world. Beyond gaining exposure to a wide variety of societal issues, I have become a deeper thinker and a better speaker—all while finding a supportive community along the way."– Anshika Agarwal (Class of 2021)

"Debate has been the most formative activity throughout high school for me. It has helped me develop an acute sensitivity to social inequalities and the ability to think critically and vocalize my thoughts. Additionally, one of its biggest perks, to quote one of our alums, is it gifts you 'golden, scintillating trophies.' "– Claire Cheng (Class of 2020)

"Joining Speech and Debate was one of my best high school decisions. You learn valuable skills and find a great community of friends!"– Arjun Prabhakar (Class of 2019)
